AMA was created in 2001 by an association of subsidiary and existing independent shipping agents and stevedores located in West Africa, who were aware of the need to be part of a new and cohesive network.
The result has been a consolidation of these ship agencies - already serving
the maritime and air industry - to an Association of Agencies that is able to
offer a complete service to all accounts in the main ports of Africa from Morocco
to South Africa.
The port agent has a long historic role in the development of the shipping industry and related economy, particularly in Africa. Today's commercial reality obliges the agent to redefine its role and to be pro-active in order to meet the changing demands of the market.
AMA strives to meet this challenge by centralised commercial and marketing activities, thereby allowing it to offer a high standard of service to its present and future clients in all shipping market segments: container, ro/ro services, tanker and bulk operations.
To facilitate AMA clients' needs, liaison offices have been created in Paris and London to develop the activities of each partner and to manage global contracts with Principals. These offices facilitate a rapid response to clients needs be it for commercial, operational or financial matters. It also allows direct involvement in specific sectors such as tanker operations where international emergency response plans have been introduced.
Teamwork is the key of the network management and AMA's success today depends
on the satisfaction of our customers and the mutual success of its clients business.
